Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya believes that any attempt by Bob Arum to match Timothy Bradley with Manny Pacquiao again in future would have the fans questioning the integrity of the first result between the two fighters.
De La Hoya has re-watched the controversial fight on many occasions and it as odds to see how two of the judges scored the bout to Bradley after witnessing what looked like a one-sided beating dished out by Pacquiao.
?There’s no doubt about it,? De La Hoya told mydesert.com. ?I watched it over and over again. I turned down the volume, I turned up the volume, I put it up on giant screen TV, anything. I thought Manny Pacquiao won the fight.
?The fact Bob Arum after the fight hugged Bradley and said he was the best, and then in the post-fight press conference he called foul and wanted a federal investigation? Come on. Did it look orchestrated? People will think that.?
On a rematch, De La Hoya added: ?People will not want to see it. People will cry controversy once again. People will once again point the finger at Bob Arum. People will say he fixed the fight, people will say he orchestrated the rematch. Why do the rematch? Move on, move on to different fights. There was so much controversy. People will speak and they’ll point the finger at Bob Arum.?
Arum has so far been reluctant to announce that a rematch is possible and is instead looking at pitting Pacquiao against Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time. That decision leaves Bradley free to make a first defence of his WBO welterweight title and deprived of the second meeting he desperately wanted.
Whether the two could meet in 2013 has not yet been ruled out by Arum and with few options for the Filipino Congressman beyond a battle with Floyd Mayweather, it may not be long before talk of Pacquiao v Bradley II raises its ugly head.
