Before he travels to Europe with his family, Manny Pacquiao is going to meet up with promoter Bob Arum to know what’s the fight that makes the most sense as the Filipino’s camp seeks to rebuild his image following the controversial loss to Tim Bradley last June 9.
Pacquiao, who is holed up in Los Angeles with wife Jinkee and their four kids, are flying to Paris this Wednesday, according to the fighter’s adviser Mike Koncz.
?We’ll see if we can meet with Bob before we leave,? said Koncz, who will be travelling with his boss.
Arum wants to talk with Pacquiao so they can chart their next move even though the Hall of Fame promoter doesn’t expect the Filipino fighter to put everything in black and white.
A Nov. 10 date has been reserved for Pacquiao’s next fight and the opponents being eyed are Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.
Of course, Floyd Mayweather is tops on the list but the unbeaten US puncher is still serving a prison sentence and won’t be out until August.
Since Pacquiao’s duel with Bradley drew only 900,000 pay-per-view buys, staging a rematch doesn’t look too enticing at all because a fourth fight with Marquez certainly appears more attractive.
Besides, the third Pacquiao-Marquez showdown last year posted 1.4 million buys and a fourth encounter promises to deliver more.
Efforts to hold a Marquez fight in Mexico City have been reported the past couple of weeks but Arum doesn’t sound excited owing to the lure of Las Vegas.
Pacquiao lost a disputed 12-round split decision to Bradley and when the Puerto Rico-based governing body World Boxing Organization reviewed the fight, a five-man panel ruled that Pacquiao had done enough to be given the decision.
However, despite the WBO’s findings, it cannot overturn the decision rendered by the Nevada judges.
