The first time I spoke to Maria Aragon, she immediately impressed me with her intelligence, and her beautiful personality. She rocked the YouTube world when she did her rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” back in 2011. The video has over 52 million views, and it’s still going up in numbers.
Maria has since become a singing sensation and has a huge following around the world. My first encounter seeing her was when she sang “Born This Way” on YouTube, but the second time was even better. Her sister took her to a local radio station in Winnipeg, Canada. During the interview with the station, Maria got the surprise of her life, a call from Lady Gaga herself! This moment was also put up on YouTube.
Los Angeles blogger and famous entertainment writer Perez Hilton saw Maria’s version of “Born This Way” and sent the video to Lady Gaga to have a look at it. Lady Gaga was so blown away by what she saw that she reached out to Maria. During the conversation Lady Gaga invited Maria to come to Toronto, Canada to perform “Born This Way” on stage with her. Maria cried tears of joy, and the rest is history. Maria showed up in Toronto in front of thousands and thousands of fans, and she hit the ball right out of the park. Lady Gaga and Maria sat at the piano and dazzled the crowd with a sensational performance.
