Hello folks, welcome back to my Ask the Champ Mailbag. Thank you for hanging in there while I took some time off to take care of some important stuff. I see Geno has been on a tear with his bag and is now taking over in the ladies department, but I hope to dethrone him soon. In case you have not seen it yet, be sure to watch our RSRTV Boxing Shows that Geno, Cedric Howard, Sean Fitzgerald, and myself have been doing. If nothing else, it will make you laugh. Last but not least, I want to thank my fans for continuing to show me their love and support while I wait and see what the hell is going on with my next fight. Ok, now to answer your questions.

I read your fight is off with Travis Simms. Do you think the WBA is just plain full of sh$%? I am so tired of all of these boxing organizations.

Yes and no as far as my fight with Travis Simms is concerned. We were scheduled to fight on November 4th, but that fight got postponed for another date. The only problem is we still do not have another date. As far as the organizations are concerned, listen to me, and listen very good, they are all a bunch of crooks. I do not care how much they talk about how they help fighters and they help the sport of boxing…everything about the organizations is geared for them to make money, everything. They only think and care about one thing and that is: money! They are CROOKS!

Thank you, I would love a fight with Cory Snoozer, but we both have a mandatory at this point. In time, we have to take care of, but I hope that after we both do our job, Cory is man enough to step up and try to unify the titles.

Sorry that I was away so long, but I had to take care of business, but I am glad your membership has been renewed. I told Geno to enjoy his temporary time on top with having the most ladies in his bag because I am coming for his title. By the way, this is back to back ladies in my bag; I think that is a first. Geno it has started already.
I think the boxing landscape is good believe it or not. There are a few things wrong with our sport right now, but the overall picture to me looks good. I am a fan of the Contender. I think they should not edit the fights, but I know they have time restraints. Honestly, I am not excited about anybody in the heavyweight division right now, even the 8th wonder of the world.

How frustrating was it to have the fight called off? Is it still on for a slightly later date in December?

It was very frustrating. You have to understand that I have not fought since May 6th of this year, and I was really hoping to have another fight before the year ends. There is still a possibility for the fight to happen by December, but it doesn’t look good. I guess I just have to wait to hear from Don King Productions on when and where and hope for the best.

Great to see you doing the mail bag again. i understand your fight has a few setbacks but i cant wait to see u back in the ring my friend! You step in there and entertain your fans at the expense of your own blood, sweat and tears, and i truly respect that! i also respect your humble common man attitude, yet at the same time you radiate confidence-the signs of a true champ!
i would love to see you go toe to toe with some of the high tier fighters just so the boxing world can really see your worth. you need to step out of the under ground hard core boxing world so more poeple can enjoy your fights! Have you considered fighting a name fighter who just suffered a setback(easier to get a fight signed with your belt as bait), beating him and in the process getting your name in the mix of the elites. what do you think of potential bouts with these such fighters… -ike quartey -fernando vargas -vernon forrest -luis callazo (rematch would draw more attention then your first bout)

Thanks. It is good to be back with my fans. One thing for sure and you hit it right on the head: I give 100% of myself in the ring, no matter what the cost is to me. I am more of the old school type, where the fighters no matter how much they are getting hit or bleeding, they are still in your face and giving it right back. I have that “never quit” attitude that I feel every fighter should have because it makes for more interesting and exciting fights.
Obviously you go in there and you do what you have to do to win, but I am not a fan of fighters that run for twelve rounds and call themselves “boxers.” Please, if they stick and move, that is boxing, but if they run and run that is called chicken. I have considered fighting everyone here and on the moon if they have any fighters, but I have gotten no bites. The hard part is that I cannot fight whomever I want because I am promoted by Don King, and I have to fight who they get me to fight. Those are the drawbacks when fighters have different promoters. I would love the opportunity to fight fighters like Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Vernon Forrest and a rematch with Luis Collazo, but the only fight that I see being possible because he is also with Don King, is Collazo, and he would have to move up to 154 lb. weight class to fight me.

Few guys can stand up to their convictions and Faith in public in this politically correct world, and for that you have my utmost admiration.
You had been calling out Margo for some time now. Any recent developments from his camp? Is there a possiblity that this fight will materialize this year or early next near? A fight with you and him is a fight I would pay top money to see. I see you winning in a 12-rd. grueling battle by UD, if Margo has the cajones to stop howling at PBF’s moon for a while.

Thank you, I appreciate the respect and admiration from my fans. I can never be ashamed of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without God in my life, I am nothing and I am not ashamed to let people know that. If people knew and understood my background and what I have had to overcome to get where I am today, then maybe they would understand why I have so much faith and trust in God. People have heard the fact that I was an orphan at 10 years old, and that I grew up without a Father in my life and so forth and so on, but there is so, so much more to what I have been through, but it has helped me to appreciate life and not take things for granted.
Yes, I have been calling out Margarito, but he is hiding behind his publicist and promoter. The other problem with making this fight is the fact that Margarito fights for Bob Arum and I fight for King. Margarito will rather keep his most feared man title then actually take a chance and fight someone who actually does not fear him and that is me. He can say whatever he wants, but he knows very well that if he wanted to fight me he can ask Arum to make it happen. I am offering him a shot at a world title, but he would rather take a beaten against Mayweather, JR., for a lot more money, then the beating he will get against me for not as much. With that said, I understand why he won’t even look my way, but now you know why none of the bigger name fighters look my way either.

I just would like to know your opinion regarding the upcoming fight. what are your predictions and what do you think is the cause if there will be an upset on the fight? Do you think MAP will retire if he is beaten by PAC the second time? or He will make a revenge to get the MP vs. MAB III?

My prediction for the fight is that I see Pacman applying that killer pressure early, and not allowing Morales to stay on the outside. If Morales is able to stay on the outside, it is not because he is being effective, it is only because he is running and I do not see a Mexican with as much pride as Morales running. I know Morales beat Pacquiao in the first fight, but Pacquiao was able to figure him out in the second fight and once a fighter figures you out, it’s over. Once Morales loses to Pacquiao, I see him going after another fight with Barrera to try to salvage what he once had and try to retire on top.

This is an easy one for me. In my humble opinion I see Pacman stopping both of these fighters or handing them a bad beating. I do see Morales giving Pacquiao a better fight then Barrera.

Eric Morales spent 2 months of training at Velocity with a team of conditioning and strength coaches, coupled with nutritionist and dietician. During last week’s (Sept. 19) press conference for his fight with Manny Pacquiao, he looked trim and in shape. With 2 more months of training camp in Otomi mountains, it seems making the weight is not a problem for him. Do you think, Eric’s training in Velocity will help him improve his stamina (and his legs) during the fight. Is it enough to help him beat Manny Pacquiao in their third match? Thanks in advance for answering my question and may you find the big fights (money wise) you are looking for.

Well this is a very good question and I have to say: yes, it is enough to help Morales beat Pacquiao, but you have to remember that Pacquiao is training hard also. I think the regimen that Morales is putting himself through is going to help him improve and give Pacquiao a better fight, but I still feel it will not change the outcome of the fight. I hope that I can find that big money fight that I have been looking for my whole career also, thanks.

Is Barrera’s going all out on a media campaign?
Hi, I just would like to know what do you think about this series of articles about Barrera being ready to face the Pacman again? I’m a Pacman fan and I’m just kinda irrated everytime I read from those articles that Barrera is just waiting for the outcome of the Pacman v. Morales tiff as if it’s Pacman who need him and not the other way around. Is this all media bullshit coming from the Barrera camp (which is incidentally now also Pacman’s camp afte signing with GBP)? Honestly, after Morales, I’d like to see Pacman face some other boxer aside from the 3 he already demolished (Barrera, Morales and Marquez), somebody like Valero, Guzman or even Barrios. What do you think? JP

Yes, a lot of what you see in boxing now is media strategies to lure a fighter to fight, and sometimes to even try to get a fighter who is retired out of retirement. Golden Boy Promotions are very good in both of those departments and as you have been seeing and reading, he is doing his best job right now. It was a foregone conclusion that once Pacman signed with GBP, he is getting him ready for a rematch with Barrera. This will be Barrera’s biggest payday and also the fight that will send him into retirement. I, myself, would like to see Pacman fight fresher meat, but am looking forward for him to send Barrera into retirement.

Thanks! It is good to be back. I see Manny taking care of Morales probably even easier than the first fight. Manny has that effective pressure that just makes men crumble.
