8CountNews caught up with 154lb wrecking machine Erislandy Lara, and with his manager Louis Decubas Jr, and got their thoughts on the next fight Vs. Freddy Hernandez. This fight will take place on Showbox on 6/30/2012.
Lara tells 8CN that although he doesn’t look past opponents, he is the best 154lb fighter in the world and he wants a crack at Canelo Alvarez. Decubas tells 8CN that it’s completely ridiculous that his fighter coming off of a victory over Paul Williams would be “demoted” to a Showbox card rather than a big fight that’s due his fighter. No knock at Showbox, as they are a stand up broadcast but Team Lara firmly believes that their guy (Lara) is beyond that at this point, and 8CN agrees.
Decubas tells 8CN that they are more than ready to put Lara in there Vs. a Canelo Alvarez. He tells 8CN that if they think their guy is the best (Golden Boy) then put him in their with Lara, and let’s see who is the best. Decubas says Alvarez must be “terrified” of Lara, and Golden boy as well with as many times as they have called them out, with nothing but crickets in response.
