Pacquiao may defend his title against the lesser known Mexican Orlando Salido once he would be able to dethrone IBF/WBA 126-pound titlist Juan Manuel ?Dinamita? Marquez in their May 8 showdown, which will be televised live by HBO at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That is if Pacquiao will stand by his declaration after the IBF officially sanctioned the uncrowned Filipino king?s highly-anticipated mega-fight with Marquez.
?I?m thankful that the IBF is willing to let me fight for their title,?Pacquiao told Fightnews.com. ?I want to abide all the rules of the IBF and WBA,? he added. The WBA has yet to officially approve the fight, but no problems are expected.
Upon giving its blessings to the Pacquiao-Marquez titular duel, the IBF has mandated that Pacquiao must face the leading available contender of the prestigious boxing organization within 90 days.
