“They’re both good friends of mine (Pacquiao and Bradley), but speaking boxing, come on man.. Everybody knows what happened,” Victor Ortiz on Pacquiao vs. Bradley.
Former WBC welterweight champion “Vicious” Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KOs) is no stranger to controversial decisions. Several people ringside, including myself, felt he did enough to win against Lamont Peterson back in December 2010, wherein he dropped his opponent twice in the third round, only to come out with a draw. But that was a close fight.
So when asked about his thoughts on the outcome of Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley almost two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Ortiz didn’t even want to bother going through details.
“Cone on man.. Everybody knows what happened,” Ortiz told boxing reporter Elie Seckbach of ESNEWSReporting.com. “I don’t really need to get into details of it all, but anyone who knows boxing specifically, hey! there were thos who said Manny (Pacquiao) didn’t do enough, come on dude, (shaking his head) that was enough,” Ortiz added.
It’s a reason why Ortiz admits he tries not to go to the scorecards when he fights, but also knows it’s a reality in the sport. “I try not to, but you can’t always do that (laughing),” Ortiz said.
Ortiz has a tough fight coming up this weeked against Joselito Lopez (29-4-0, 17 KOs) for the vacant WBC Silver welterweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and barring any letdowns, will move on to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-0-1, 29 KOs) in a blockbuster showdown between two of Golden Boy Promotions’ young stars.
Ortiz has been sparring with former world champion Steve Forbes, who says he hits harder than Alvarez, whom he had sparred with in the past as well.
