Las Vegas, NV (AHN) – Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquio promises a good fight and Erik “El Terrible” Morales of Mexico said he will show what he can do when the two boxing protagonists clash for the third and last time on November 18 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The boxing match is being called “The Grand Finale,” and will feature two of the most exciting fighters in the 130-lb super featherweight division.
In a pre-fight press conference, promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank said “Anybody who follows boxing and watches boxing will want to come to this fight or watch it on TV.” Top rank was also the promoter of the first two matches of Pacquiao and Morales.
Fightnews.com quotes Pacquiao as saying, “It’s going to be a good fight on November 18th. Both of us are trying to give you a good fight. I’m praying no one gets hurt on the 18th.”
The much older Morales has asked his fans to give him another chance to show his boxing prowess. He was once known as the “purest warrior in all of boxing.”
“As everyone knows, the last few times that I’ve been in the ring, it hasn’t been that good for me. This gives me an opportunity to reverse everything and go back to where I belong. I’m asking you to believe in me one more time to show you what I can do,” the Mexican fighter said.
Pacquiao stopped Morales in the 10th round of their rematch last January. But he lost to a close but unanimous decision in their first fight last year
The match will ensure Pacquiao with a $3 million purse plus a $ 500,000 guarantee for every excess pound of Morales beyond the 130-lb limit of the division. The contact also stipulates that should the Mexican go two pounds beyond the limit, the Filipino has the option to decline or accept the fight with a guaranteed $1 million in the purse.
Pacquiao will also be penalized $500,000 for every excess pound beyond the limit, but his handlers were confident this will not be a problem for their fighter.
Morales is currently working with a team of experts to bring down his weight while at the same time retaining his power and stamina.
