The legendary James ?Lights Out? Toney (74-7-45KO-3D) spoke to me earlier this evening and shared his thoughts on both his career, and the Pacquiao Vs. Bradley rob job that took place last Saturday. Toney who is a sure fire 1st ballot hall of fame inductee the minute he retires, told me that his team has reached out to current heavyweight contender Chris Arreola in order to try and make a fight, but was turned down. According to Toney, the Arreola team turned down the fight saying that he was, ?too big a risk.?
Toney in his usual fashion pulled no punches. He lashed out at Antonio Tarver several times throughout our conversation. Toney wasn’t impressed with Tarver’s last performance at all, and wasted no time letting that be known, ?Tarver looked like garbage the other night. He was slow, lethargic, he looked old.? Toney went on to say, ?If he wants to fight a real fighter, he can get at me. Tarver ain’t sh&*# he can get his a#$ beat anytime he wants.? Toney in typical Toney fashion sent a clear message. James also spoke to me about the Manny Pacquiao Vs. Timothy Bradley fight. Just as most of planet earth had it, Toney had Pacquiao winning easy. When I asked him for his thoughts on the judges scores he quickly replied, ?Man that was just terrible. Those judges need to be banned from our sport. Those are the same judges that got me one time too. They are killing boxing.? Toney is concerned that judges like that do further damage to boxing, ?This is why our fans are leaving boxing and going over to watch MMA. This kills our sport. I had Pacquiao winning that fight 11 rounds to 1 and I was generous to give Bradley one round.? When I asked James how long he planned to stay in the fight game he replied, ?I am getting younger, I’m not getting older. In fact, when I find father time, I am going to kick his a$@.? Toney went on to say, ?I want to be the undisputed heavyweight champion. The Klitschko’s won’t fight me, Arreola won’t fight me, Tarver won’t, nobody will. They are all scared of me. I’ll just keep beating people until somebody steps up.? Toney’s last performance was a victory over Bobby Gunn back in April, 2012.
