Floyd Mayweather Jr. Lockdown Update: No chocolate mints, no special privileges

Jail is no joke but the one-liners are flying fast and furious as a Las Vegas judge has rightly decided on Wednesday that Floyd “Money” Mayweather will be accorded no special privileges as he serves out his 87 day sentence in the “Baby Mama Drama” asault case. Jokes like? Like Mayweather kvetching about no one placing a chocolate mint on his pillow at bedtime. Like Mayweather saying the daily diet looks like an express route to a terrible case of ptomaine. Like Mayweather’s lawyers asking for him spend the rest of his time, not at his plush “Big Boy” Mansion” but rather a less cushy location in the gambling mecca. I mean, come on, where were the legal beagles suggesting the judge let “Money” bed down, the Hooters Hotel & Casino or a grimy Motel Six? Now’s the time, past time really, for Mayweather to keep his head up and just mark off the days until the hoosegow doors swing open for his release. Last time I checked, boxing is the only worldwide sport which can boast (?) that one of its transcendant superstars is in lockdown mode. Personally, I take no joy in Floyd Joy’s incarceration or the embarrassment attached to it. Less said about Mayweather’s confinment going forward to the bright, sunny Southern Nevada morning when he’s back al fresco, the better for him and for boxing. Mayweather wants to put this episode in the rear view mirror and so do we all. ([email protected])
