ANTICIPATING the most difficult fight of his career, reigning WBA/IBF featherweight king Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez of Mexico has added high-altitude training to his regimen more than two months before he tangles with Ring Magazine featherweight ruler Manny Pacquiao on May 8 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marquez (42-2, 33 KOs), accompanied by trainer and manager Nacho Beristain, is now training at the Volcan Nevado de Toluca, some 12,800 feet above sea level where he runs eight km in the morning and then works out at an improvised gym in the area.
After a hard training the other day, Marquez weighed in at 60 kg, three above the regulatory 57.152-kg (126-lb) featherweight class, and indicated he is not having any weight problem whatsoever.
