FILIPINO ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao held on to the No. 1 spot in the pound-for-pound rankings in the latest edition of the WBM Pro Boxing Poll released Monday by the ratings body.
This is Pacquiao’s second consecutive month at the helm of the pound-for-pound hierarchy. He holds a narrow two-vote margin over unbeaten welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is considered the best by rival ranking body Ring Magazine.
Pacquiao’s voting edge over Mayweather was the same as last month. The Filipino fighter is unbeaten in two outings this year, and has a third bout scheduled with Erik Morales in November.
The objective of the WBM Pro Boxing Poll is to recognize the achievements of deserving professional boxers by giving voice to boxing journalists.
The poll includes voting members from the US, Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Panama, Australia and New Zealand.
