I recently spoke with ring legend “Sugar” Shane Mosley and got his thoughts on several topics. One of them being the upcoming Manny Pacquiao Vs. Timothy Bradley fight. Mosley has been in the sport for a long time, and as a person who has been bitten by Father Time in his own rights, he sees the same thing happening to Pacquiao.
Mosley recently came up short Vs. Canelo Alvarez, and he spoke about his performance, “I thought I did OK in the fight, but I wasn’t able to do the things that I used to do. I really think that I am going to leave boxing alone now. I want to stay in the sport and give back, work with my son, and do some promoting.” Mosley went on to say, ” Canelo impressed me, he really did. I think he has a bright future in boxing.”

Mosley also touched on the Floyd Mayweather Vs. Miguel Cotto fight. He fought on the same card, but was able to look at it from the back on the monitor. Mosley was impressed with both men, “I thought both guys had great performances. Floyd fought hard and made the proper adjustments in order to win the fight. Cotto fought a good fight, a fight that made the fans happy. It was a good card all around.”
When I asked Mosley about the Pacquiao Vs. Bradley fight he said, “I think Pacquiao is in for a long hard fight. In fact, if Bradley can take Pacquiao’s punch, I almost favor him to win. Pacquiao has shown some signs of aging in his past few fights. I looked at video of him sparring when he was preparing for De La Hoya, and I look at him now, and it’s a huge difference. The leg cramps in back to back fights, and things like that are signs. When one thing goes south, then everything else starts to as well.”
Mosley seems very happy with his life. When I spoke with him, he seemed very relaxed and clear minded. He didn’t come right out an announce his retirement, but he came very close to doing so. He informed me that he’s pretty sure that he is done with boxing and wants to work with with his son, who’s a 6ft 1in 165 middleweight. Shane Mosley Jr is still an amateur, but look for him to go pro soon.
