HOLLYWOOD ? Manny Pacquiao has dealt with people questioning if age is a factor after a subpar performance in his last fight, but the 33-year-old Filipino superstar is more concerned with Timothy Bradley’s head butts.
Head butts and age were two of the recurring themes during Pacquiao’s media workout Wednesday at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood off of Vine Street.
Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against Cathedral City’s Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The media event drew a huge throng of reporters, standing four-to-six people deep around the main ring of the sweltering gym.
Among the various questions for Pacquiao has been his age. Pacquiao is five years older than the 28-year-old Bradley, but the boxer of the decade said he feels like he’s 25 years old and feels as good as ever.
Since his last fight, a controversial decision over Juan Manuel Marquez in November, Pacquiao has given up his various vices and feels just as fit as he ever has.
But Pacquiao said his main concern is dealing with head butts that has ended two of Bradley’s previous fights prematurely.
Pacquiao said movement will be a key against Bradley. Trainer Freddie Roach said the head butt is Bradley’s best punch.
Asked for a prediction for the fight, Pacquiao said “It is God’s will.”
