Jaca returns to ALA camp

JIMREX Jaca has reunited with his former promoter ALA Promotions after deciding that his future is with the Cebu-based international promotional outfit.

?I went back (to ALA Promotions) because I felt that I still have a chance to become a champion,? the 28-year-old former world title contender said yesterday. ?I found it a waste of my career that I had no fights. I thank ALA Promotions for welcoming me back.?

In 2008, Jaca?s career was on a downward spiral, and he lost all of his three fights that year. He had a long layoff for almost two years and decided to revive his career with ALA Promotions.

?Actually, it was the first time ALA Promotions was signing up fighters all over the world. It was a gesture by ALA Promotions. He needed a fight and we brought him back,? ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer recalled, the first time Jaca approached them.

Jaca fought under the ALA Promotions banner in 2010 and won three straight fights against Ramadhan Weriu, James Kimori and Pipinno Cuevas. Suddenly, without notice, Jaca shifted allegiance to Rafael Sancho.

Now that Jaca has cut ties with Sancho, he believes that he belongs to ALA Promotions and signed a contract to fight under its banner.

?Jimrex made his own decision and went astray. He talked with me and my father (Antonio L. Aldeguer) that he wanted to sign up with ALA Promotions. It is his decision and we welcome him with open arms,? said Aldeguer.

ALA Promotions plan to slate Jaca in its next huge boxing event in Manila in July, where he could possibly face Canadian prospect Steve Claggett.
