One thing that shouldn?t surprise anyone about the June 9th Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley melee would be a little bit of war or words between Bradley and trainer Freddie Roach, who trains Pacquiao.
Both men are outspoken in their respective ways and Bradley apparently didn?t take too kindly to Roach comparing him to a victim of Pacquiao?s past, Ricky Hatton.
?He fights just like Hatton with a stronger chin,? Roach would tell the Philippine Star of the British brawler who Pacquiao dusted in just under two rounds in their May 2009 clash. ?He thinks he?s the best-conditioned boxer in the world. For sure, he works out every day. From what I know, he walks around at 165 pounds with very little body fat. He?s all muscle.?
Speaking recently to WLIE Radio in New York, Bradley fired back at the four-time trainer of the year with some lively dialogue of his own.
?I hear Freddie Roach is comparing me to Ricky Hatton and I?m like ?Dude, you guys are retarded if you think I fight like Ricky Hatton?. Honestly, but no offense, what are you guys looking at? And then they bring in this Russian guy [Ruslan Provodnikov] who comes forward and is a banger and I?m like ?Wow, these guys really don?t know what I can do?. It?s funny, they think I?m just this face-first brawler and I?m like ?You guys are going to be in for a rude awakening?. I can fight, I can box and I can brawl,? Bradley stated with conviction.
