Puerto Galera, Mindoro – I caught up with IBF Pan Pacific superbantamweight champion, and former WBA Interim super flyweight champion Drian “Gintong Kamao” Francisco (22-1-0, 17 KOs) this past weekend and got updates on his career and next fight.
“Nandito ngayon yung presidente ng IBF, kinausap ako. Kung sino mananalo sa eliminator, lalaban sa championship ng IBF super bantam. Kung sino manalo dun, sa akin yung depensa (The president of the IBF is here right now, and he spoke to me. Whoever wins the upcoming elimintor will fight for the IBF super bantamweight championship. Whoever wins that fight, I will be their first mandatory defense),” Francisco told me as he enjoyed the highly entertaining fight card in Puerto Galera headlined by his stable mate Roberto Gonzalez.
Francisco scored a first round knockout win in his most recent fight against Pichitchai Twins Gym win in Thailand last month, after an impressive unanimous decision victory against Michael Domingo back in September.
Francisco is targeting July for his next fight.
