I have watched the Floyd Mayweather Vs. Miguel Cotto fight a few times now and I must say, this is the best performance that I have ever seen for both fighters Floyd Mayweather with the exception of his performance Vs. Diego Corrales put forth the best fight of his career.
Miguel Cotto was not the same guy in the ring Vs. Mayweather that faced MannyPacquiao. He was a completely different fighter Vs.Floyd, a much better fighter.
Cotto showed up primed and ready and he forced Floyd into a real street fight. On the flip, Floyd stepped up and made the adjustments. He took it right back at Cotto, thus providing the fans with an exceptional fight.
Floyd also showed that he is the pound for pound money maker. The PPV results are in, and his fight Vs. Cotto will go down as the 2nd highest PPV boxing match since his own fight Vs. Oscar De La Hoya.
Floyd purposely got up on the ropes several times throughout the fight, and with masterful defense, he blocked most of what Cotto threw at him. The way he tucks that shoulder and his exceptional vision and reflexes makes it very difficult for any opponent to land flush on him. Cotto did however have his moments. Floyd’s nose and mouth were bleeding, a rare thing to see.
So what’s next for Floyd? It probably won’t be Pacquiao, so what’s next? Does Canelo want some of Floyd Mayweather? Probably not quite yet. Unfortunately for Floyd, the very next thing for him is some jail time. When Floyd gets out, it wont take long for the buzz to return, and for people to want to know who his next opponent will be.
Pacquiao’s next scrap will be Vs. Timothy Bradley. I highly doubt the Pacquiao Vs. Bradley fight does nearly as well in PPV as Floyd’s fight Vs. Cotto did. Bradley is a very good young fighter, but he just does not have the big fan following. Manny will have to do most of the PPV selling on his own.
We’ll just have to take a wait and see approach. Most hope that Floyd and Manny will still face off in the ring. There are however, a growing number of boxing fans that are losing interest in the big fight. The fans are getting tired of waiting.
