Coach Diaz says Bradley more focused

Timothy Bradley?s trainer Joel Diaz said that the small number of people surrounding his ward during training is working to their advantage.

Bradley?s lean squad stands in sharp contrast to the numerous assistants of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.

?When you have 100 people, they would surely fight over position, over money, over who is going to be in the corner, who is going to go in the ring, who is going to be in the dressing room. And that, put together, bother the fighter in the long run,? Diaz commented on the huge number of Team Pacquiao in a phone patch interview.

Diaz though is worried on Bradley?s lack of rest because the young fighter works hard even on weekends.

?I?m telling him to slow down on Saturday?s practice then take a day off Sunday,? Diaz said in Spanish. ?He used to work out hard on Saturday and Sunday then come back sluggish on Monday for training,? he added.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao is training without a strength and conditioning coach with less than a month to go before his June 9 fight with Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao?s strength and conditioning coach for four years Alex Ariza, abandoned the training camp in Baguio to train another boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. whose scheduled fight was cancelled. Team Pacquiao commissioned Marvin Somodio to replace Ariza but he was denied a US Visa.

Despite the inconvenience of Ariza?s departure, trainer Freddie Roach said his top pupil is meeting all training goals and is ready to fight Bradley comes June 9.
