Amir Khan’s fight has been canceled due to the fact that Lamont Peterson has failed his drug test. He showed high levels of testoterone. He admitted that his Doctor had him on it. Nonetheless, Amir Khan is not buying it. So now Amir is rescheduling for June 30th and he is looking for a durable opponent. Well guess what? Mercito Gesta would be willing to go 12 rounds with you.
Mercito Gesta just fought on the undercard of Rios vs Abril and he looked impressive in stopping Oscar Cuero. Although Cuero was not too much of a threat, Gesta dropped him in the 7th and 8th round before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. With the win Mercito Gesta moved to 25-0 and now he wants a belt. Just look at the perfect timing. If Amir Khan is serious, then he should give Mercito a shot.
The funny thing about that fight would be, who would Manny Pacquiao pull for? Would he be rooting for his stable mate, who he helps spar with from time to time? Or would Manny Pacquiao pull for his own filipino countryman? Mercito is ready for the big time title shot, if the belts are stripped from Lamont Peterson and are up for grabs.
