Manny Pacquiao and President Arroyo can be said to belong to a mutual admiration society.
Pacquiao was among the country?s sports heroes cited by the President during her State of the Nation address Monday at the Batasan during which Mrs. Arroyo, clenching her right fist, said “We punched our way to triumph in the boxing world.”
“Mabuhay ka Manny,” she said as Pacquiao stood from the gallery to acknowledge the cheers.
Hours after gracing the SoNA, Pacquiao hosted a dinner for sports scribes who covered his recent outing against Mexican Oscar Larios.
Pacquiao was still wearing the Barong Tagalog which he wore during the President?s speech despite the stormy weather at the Harbour View restaurant at the Luneta.
It was during the dinner that Pacquiao reiterated his support of the President and her program of government.
“Alam mo talaga na maganda ang hangarin ni Presidente kaya?t dapat natin siyang suportahan,” said Pacquiao as he feasted on lobsters, crabs, prawns, fish, beef sinigang, crispy beef strips and rice.
“Maganda ang plano ni Presidente sa ating bansa. Sana ay magkaisa tayong lahat,” said Pacquiao, whose next assignment will be a rubber match with Erik Morales of Mexico on Nov. 18 in Las Vegas.
