Guaranteed to happen tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in the Cinco de Mayo Fistic Lollapalooza: Before this Everlast Einsten inspects and dissects what will surely happen tonight in the Miguel I’m No Angel Cotto-Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. main event and the sideshow atttractions, I take this pause to show my appreciation for the Father, the Son and less than holy Uncle. I noted in one my classic tweets Friday that the fistic world would have been very dull and dreary without the lightning rod qualities of “Money” Mayweather over the last dozen or so years, most particularly since the running “feud” between Mayweather and Pacquiao adherents began. Bob Arum is the most quotable promoter in boxing but Mayweather remains the most incediary prizefighter. You really never know what verbal insights or foolishness will flow from Money’s always flapping lips. As for Good Citizen Pacman, getting a molten lava type quote from him is like pulling teeth. There’s a reason those imitating his verbal style, including yours truly, normally go with his chirpy “I’m only doing my jab” line. So, Floyd Jr., this formerly ink-stained wretch does appreciate the volumes of material you have pereptually provided me and other scriveners with over the years. But Mayweathers Three–Uncle Roger and Poppa Floyd Sr.–deserve a mention also. Roger, his nephew’s trainer, oftens sounds like Redd Foxx on crack but he certainly does know shi-t about boxing. If you ever saw him fight, and I did many times, you would concede this. Roger’s may usually be Rated X for obscenities but he is never boring. And “Pretty Daddy” well, I must say Big Floyd is unpredictable and zany. The Mayweathers Three are the gifts that keep on giving for journalists and for fight fans. Love them or loathe them, they never commit the crime of being dull. As for Saturday night’s Margarita-fueld mayhem, this is what you will see: 1. COTTO TAKES LICKING BUT KEEPS ON TICKING–Boricua Banger’s experience, durability serve him well but garners him only a few points on scorecards. Mayweather shines brightly, winning at least 10 of 12 rounds, unanimous decision. Mayweather will fight Canelo Alvarez in the fall and then Cotto will end his HOF career next May by fighting Carrot Top Canelo. 2. MOSLEY LOOKS WEAK AND WEARY–Unbeaten Pride Of Mexico Canelo dominates Mosley and wins decision, let’s say it goes 9-2-1 in rounds. 3. PACQUIAO RAP–Mayweather can’t avoid speaking on Manny afterward so experct more drivel, entertaining drivel but drivel nonetheless.
