LEGENDARY Mexican Erik “El Terrible” Morales is mad at trainer Freddie Roach for his remarks in which he called the Mexican a “loud mouth and a nasty guy who had no respect for Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino people.”
Roach made the comments in an interview with Viva Sports/Standard Today when he was in Manila for the Mano-A-Mano showdown between Filipino ring idol Pacquiao and Oscar Larios last July 2.
“I never insulted the Filipino people in my life. To the contrary, I believe they are, as well as the Mexican fans, very loyal to their boxers and have a well-grounded knowledge of boxing and they support the sport like few others,” said Morales in an interview with Fight News, in reaction to Roach’s comments.
Morales added he had never put Pacquiao’s greatness as a warrior in doubt either.
“I have mentioned in some interviews what I believe are his weaknesses, but I have never said that I don’t respect him because that is not true. I do respect him as a fighter,” Morales admitted.
