Stakes are low, hopes are high as Pacquiao presses on with his big move – Teves

Topnotch think-tank godfather Margarito “Gary” Teves echoes PDP-Laban president and Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel’s believing that the political circle he represents is Congressman Manny Pacquiao’s first national party.

For Pacquiao, his move is “purely a political decision and he had nothing against President Aquino,” according to the Philippine Star’s report.

Pacquiao, known to switch political stance in a matter of personal association and “downplayed the alleged snub of President Aquino during the energy summit in Davao last Friday” as reported, has joined the ranks of 2016 presidential wannabe Vice President Jejomar Binay, which Teves sees as big move to prime up the Filipino boxer’s political ascendancy in the national level.

Teves, an Ivy League product from the world’s no. 1 private educational institution, Williams College, and one who stunningly saves the Philippine economy during the collapsing administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo when he was appointed secretary of the Department of Finance of the Philippines in July 2005 following a mass resignation of Arroyo’s economic team , believes Pacquiao to be a great contribution to the PDP-Laban Party’s formidable drawing power in the coming days.

Meanwhile, many still believe Pacquiao lacks clear vision and strong disposition and has been regarded as someone who can easily be swayed by anyone in his circle who has the most pleasing whisper at a given time.

But, Teves, named in 2009 as the “Best Finance Minister” in Asia, a title given by London-based international finance magazine, The Banker, thinks Pacquiao is learning best of PDP-Laban Party’s power for the betterment of the Philippines as a whole.
