MANILA, Philippines ? Timothy Bradley has two more things to look out for when he gets in the ring with Manny Pacquiao on June 9 in Las Vegas.
Buboy Fernandez, the right-hand man of Freddie Roach and Pacquiao?s childhood chum, has come up with a chilling nickname to describe them.
?Pamatay!? shouted Fernandez as Pacquiao banged the mitts with him yesterday afternoon at the MP Tower Gym in Manila less than two months before the Filipino star faces Bradley at the MGM Grand.
While it?s no secret that Pacquiao also loves to throw them to get his foes in trouble, he put an extra ?oomph? on his right hook and left uppercut during yesterday?s workout at the MP Tower, a six-level building that used to house the old L&M Gym that spawned world champions like him and countless others.
The impact of Pacquiao?s green gloves on Fernandez?s golden mitts sounded as though it was former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson?s furious fists that were catching the pads and not a mere welterweight like Pacquiao who was landing the thunderous blows.
At the end of the mitts session, Pacquiao winked and smiled.
?Bugbog si Buboy (Buboy?s beat-up),? said Pacquiao, who will meet up with Freddie Roach Tuesday in Baguio City for the start of training camp proper.
Of course, Pacquiao let loose his trademark left straight several times, the primary concern for Bradley, but it was obvious Team Pacquiao has other options in mind.
Pacquiao said he has Bradley, un?beaten in 28 fights, all figured out.
?One hundred one percent he is going to do this,? said Pacquiao, motioning to Fernandez what the rugged American will try to do when they meet at close range.
