THE next generation of the Pe?alosa boxing family once again takes center stage in Cebu in ?Dugong Kampeon? on April 21 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Center.
Dodie Boy Jr. will take on another foreign opponent in Indonesian journeyman Alex Buckie, while Dave faces JR Salvador.
Dodie Boy Jr. has so far been living up to his surname, logging an impressive 8-0 record with eight knockouts. Dodie Boy Jr. and Dave are sons of two-division world champion Dodie Boy Pe?alosa and nephews of Gerry Pe?alosa.
Dodie Boy Jr. didn?t even break a sweat in his last fight on Jan. 28 as he easily disposed of unheralded Superjames Singmanasak at the Recom Dome in Caloocan City. Dave, 2-0 with a knockout, also saw action in the same boxing show and stopped Rey Colambot in two rounds.
The 26-year-old Buckie is the most experienced boxer that the budding Dodie Boy Jr. will face in his career. Although Buckie?s record looks dreadful at 13-25-6 with seven knockouts, he has only been knocked out five times and has had his share of fights against world-class opponents.
