BEFORE HE boards the Philippine Airlines jet that will bring him to Los Angeles tonight, Manny Pacquiao will work out for at least an hour at the L&M Gym in Sampaloc for the sake of superstition.
“Manny hasn?t trained at the L&M since winning his last fight,” said Lito Mondejar, one of his cornermen who will join him in the 10 p.m. flight to La-La Land. “I just want him to get back the feel of this gym.
“This is the gym that produced many world champions and I would feel better if he trains even for one day here before going to the States. In all of his fights in the US, Manny trained here.”
This year Pacquiao?s two training days in Manila were held at the local Wild Card Boxing Club in Para?aque. He claimed to have worked out in Davao and General Santos City.
Joining him in the 11-hour trip to the US are Mondejar and another trainer, Buboy Fernandez, as well as US promoter Murad Muhammad, whose M&M Sports and Bob Arum?s Top Rank are co-promoting Pacquiao?s duel with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez on May 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
