Pacquiao Training

MANILA, Philippines ? True to his word, Manny Pacquiao showed up for training Tuesday afternoon in General Santos City, a little over two months before he locks horns with Tim Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

?Manny looks good…he doesn’t look bloated like most boxers who are not training for a fight,? said boxing man Rey Golingan, who christened Pacquiao the alias ?Kid Kulafu? in the early-1990s when the current toast of boxing was still in the amateur ranks.

Golingan, who heads the amateur boxing program of General Santos, said the workout lasted for about two hours and that Pacquiao will continue to sweat it out until Maundy Thursday.

?Manny told me he will not train from Friday until Sunday,? said Golingan, a familiar fixture in Pacquiao fights in the US.

Although training camp proper will not begin until April 16 in Baguio City, Pacquiao said he would like to warm it up a bit.

?I don’t want to enter training camp without going through a warmup. Baka mabigla tayo,? said Pacquiao, whose World Boxing Organization welterweight title will be on the line against Bradley.

?Bradley is someone not to be messed with. He is not only undefeated but is hungry for recognition,? added Pacquiao.

The last two weeks, Pacquiao has been doing his morning roadwork near his home in Laguna, a sign that the pound-for-pound king is dead-serious in scoring a smashing win over Bradley.

Pacquiao is a 3-1 favorite according to oddsmakers but the Filipino puncher is not swayed by the numbers.

?Bradley is a tough fighter so it will be stupid to take him for granted.?
