There appears to be some controversy brewing in Mexico.
Michael Koncz, the manager for former Filipino champ Rodel Mayol (30-5-2, 22 KO?s), advised our friends at BoxingScene.com that his boxer is likely not pushing forward with a scheduled Saturday fight against WBA flyweight champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez (32-2, 25 KO?s), set to take place at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora.
According to Koncz, Marquez weighed in four times in a span of ?two to three minutes? and was said to be overweight on his first three attempts. Marquez, who was stripped down to nothing, made weight on this fourth try.
But Koncz complained that the Mexican fighter had his feet ?hanging halfway off the scale? during his last attempt while also being surrounded by his team members.
At the moment Koncz advised Rick Reeno of BoxingScene.com that his fighter is not fighting.
Expect much more on this developing drama in the coming hours.
