Many have believed for a few years now that it would take an Act of God, Divine Intervention if you will, to make the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao bout a reality.
But, this just in from Pacman’s recent convo with The Creator: it appears that the Supreme Being, the King of Kings, does not want to see what would be a financial lollapalooza but also a fistic farce inside the ring.Don’t take my word for it but you better take His, with the sacred emphasis on the capital “H.” Pacman, who is seemingly reborn and rebooted and deeper into his strong Catholicism more than ever, told Radio DZMM (and Teleradyo TV) that The Big Boss Up Above gave him a sobering message.
“I will not stay long in boxing because he said: ‘You have done enough. You have made yourself famous but this is harmful,'” said a serious-looking Pacquiao, who has won eight titles in as many weight divisions. Pacquiao, 33, said he had the dream earlier this year but declined to reveal how many more fights he would contest before stepping down. But when asked if his new-found religious fervour would hurt his boxing, Pacquiao replied: “I will do my work inside the ring.” (Manila Tribune report.)
Pacman, who goes to bible study every week and is often accompanied by wife Jinkee, said he will be making a major religious announcement shortly.
Could it be possible that Pacman will pack it in after beating Tim Bradley on June 9 in Las Vegas?
In my opinion, that will only happen if Pacquiao is less than impressive against the younger, undefeated American fighter.
If Pacman wins and shines, I bet he will fight in November. He won’t be fighting Mayweather then because Floyd is priming Mexican wunderkind Canelo Alvarez for an autumn fight.
Even when Pacquiao quits the ring, and I think he may before year’s end, I think he will some time shortly thereafter get another message from on high.
“Time to return to the ring, Manny,” the Supreme Being may say. “Mayweather is getting on my nerves. Return and teach this brzen donkey some humility and manners…
“That’s an order! No, I mean that is a Commandment!”
