Mercito Gesta has always wanted to fight the best in the world. He’s a lightweight with a welterweight body frame. At 5’7 with 24 Wins and 12 of them by knockout, he’s a very talented Southpaw. At 24 years of age, he has not even reached his peak performance yet. Some might cringe at the fact that he has only knocked out half of his opponents, but the main focus is he hasn’t loss.
Yuriorkis Gamboa doesn’t know how to lose either. He wanted to make the jump up to lightweight to face Brandon Rios. Sadly that fight never got off the ground and now Gamboa is being sued. If they are still looking to get him back in the ring, then by all means Mercito would be ready to rumble. The Fighter hailed as “No Mercy” has never backed down from anyone or any challenge.
It depends on how much trouble Gamboa is in though. Even if a fight could not be made, Brandon Rios is not out of the picture. Why would he want to face a 17-2 fighter in Abril. I’m really shocked that HBO would go for that fight. Mercito has paid his dues and he deserves a big money fight now. Let’s see how well Rios would do against a slick southpaw that can pot shot you all night long and avoid your dangerous punches. Let’s Go HBO.
