WBC President Implements Same Day Weigh In Starting July 1st

The WBC President Jose Sulaiman has implemented the same day weigh in starting on July 1st. This rule will be universal no matter where you are fighting. This is a standard WBC Rule now. A weigh-in at 9.30am on the day of the fight will permit the fighter a maximum of 10% increase in weight above their specific weight division. This will not set well with alot of Fighters.

One fighter that everyone seems to pick on lately is Julio Ceasar Chavez Jr. Atleast he’s been the latest to be attacked. Fighters that are known for weighing in the day before will usually pick up 10-20lbs more than their opponent. This is very dangerous. Not only for the fighter, but their opponent too. This has always been a safety concern. Finally something is being done about it. Same day weigh in does not give your body the chance to recoup like it would in a 24hr turn around.

Hopefully this will cause fighters to box at the next weight class up. Hopefully this will stop bigger guys dropping all this weight so they can beat up naturally smaller guys. Sometimes this plan backfires because even though you quickly rehydrate it can drain your body and within 10 minutes of a fight your body is like rubber. It cannot function properly like it should. First thing to go is your legs, and then your stamina. Of course this does not affect every boxer but it does most.
