Mayweather is a control freak. He wants Manny Pacquiao to agree with all of his demands. The drug testing is no longer an issue. And Pacquiao has agreed to random drug testing. However, the biggest obstacle is how they are going to split the fight purse.
Mayweather thinks Pacquiao does not deserve a 50-50 split. Then, they should agree to a 55-45 split. The winner would get 55 and the loser would get 45 of the fight purse. So the better fighter would be making more money.
He is doing boxing fans and the sport a big disservice by not fighting Pacquiao. Especially, since Pacquiao deserves a 50-50 split with him. Pacquiao is the more active fighter. He does not take 16 month layoffs like Mayweather or retire then come back. He does his job which is fighting.
Mayweather is hurting his own legacy by not taking this fight. Even if he loses to Pacquiao in the long run it would still help him by raising his profile more. We all know he loves money. The fight would be the largest payday of his career. And if he beats Pacquiao he would be able to do something he has never done quiet his critics.
If Mayweather does not fight Pacquiao after the Miguel Cotto fight. He should just retire. It is a joke to call yourself the greatest fighter ever if you do not fight the best. Great fighters such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis would have fought Pacquiao two or three times. Great fighters get in the ring and prove their greatness. They have the courage to fight anyone, anytime, anywhere.
I am not a Mayweather fan or hater. I just like all boxing fans want to see the best fights. We can all speculate about whom would win the boxing match. But, the question will never be answered if they do not fight each other. And they are both in their thirties so the clock is ticking. Likewise, if this fight never happens it will go down as the greatest fight never made.
