Miguel Cotto took a swipe at Manny Pacquiao yesterday at the Puerto Rico Press Conference where him and Mayweather faced off. It seems as though Cotto is still upset at the way he lost to Manny Pacquiao when they squared off and Manny got a 12th round stoppage over him. Cotto was in line for a rematch with Pacquiao but he was not going to sacrafice his body again to come down to 147lbs. That is why we have Mayweather vs Cotto on May 5th now.
During the presser today Cotto had this to say, “Mayweather is not taking advantage of anyone but the fight looked like it had to do, the best challenge possible,” he said. “The respect is mutual, he wants my title and moved up in division. That’s being a real fighter, a true champion.” If that is not an indirect jab at Manny Pacquiao then I don’t know what is.
I’m sure Manny Pacquiao is not worried about it. A win is a win. He is moving on to the young undefeated Champion Timothy Bradley. For Pacquiao this will be a good challenge for him. The betting odds have Pacquiao as a 3-1 Favorite to win. Bradley says that doesn’t upset him. He’s going for the KO and doesn’t want to leave it up to the judges. Two great fights this summer, and hopefully the mega fight at the end of the year is soon approaching us.
