MANILA, Philippines ? Considered as the greatest boxer of his generation, seven-division champ Manny Pacquiao sees himself going to the boxing arena two or three more times, and hopefully, that heavily-anticipated match with Mayweather Jr.
?I have maybe two or three more fights,? the 33-year-old pound for pound king said, shortly arriving in the country Saturday night. It is not clear, however, if his own timetable and deadline includes his forthcoming world welterweight title match with Timothy Bradley slated on June 9.
The Sarangani lawmaker arrived with his wife Jinkee from New York via Hong Kong on board Cathay Pacific flight CX907. He went to the United States to fulfill several commitments, including endorsements deals and promoting his fight with Bradley at the MGM Grand.
He was also reportedly there to give his deposition in connection with a defamation suit against Mayweather in connection with the American boxer?s comments hinting that Pacquiao could be indulging in performance-enhancing drugs. But given the chance, clearly, it is not in the court that the Filipino sports hero wants to lock horns with Mayweather. More precisely, he wants to face Mayweather in the ring to exchange jabs and perhaps, finally settle that lingering question who is the best boxer between them.
?Hopefully he will fight before I retire,? he said. Pacquiao is hopeful that the much-awaited fight will be slated on November this year. Pacquiao added that he is optimistic in his upcoming June 9 fight against challenger Timothy Bradley, but not without being too over confident.
