MANNY Pacquiao may not be afraid of WBA/IBF champion Juan Manuel Marquez, but a ring expert who had seen the merciless Mexican prizefighter in person has reason to be alarmed.
Topnotch promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr., who worked at the corner of Philippine featherweight champion Baby Lorona Jr., saw how Marquez put his ward away in just five minutes and five seconds at the Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno, Nevada on April 2001.
“Lorona was knocked down twice before the referee stopped the fight,” Elorde recalled in an interview Monday.
The son of the great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde is giving Pacquiao a 50-50 chance of winning against the Mexican dual champ.
“It won’t last more than six rounds,” said Elorde. “Manny must avoid getting hit by Marquez’s right straight–his most lethal punch.”
