AMATEUR Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) president Rey Golingan on Saturday said Manny Pacquiao could knock out Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez in their upcoming fight slated May 8 under Home Box Office (HBO) promotion.
“If he defeated Barrera, I see no reason why he won’t win the fight over Marquez,” Golingan said.
Although the record of Marquez is also good, Golingan said Barerra is more popular and a better fighter than Marquez.
“It’s possible that Manny could knockout Marquez, but nobody can predict which round,” he added.
But he said Manny always opt for an early round knockout.
“Kung patagalin mo pa ‘yan, mahirap na baka matsambahan ka pa (It is difficult to let the fight stay longer for you might be hit by a lucky punch),” Golingan said.
Golingan, however, said boxing is nobody’s game, because even if you are leading the first 11 rounds you can go down the floor if hit by a lucky punch.
