Malignaggi- ?Absolutely Albert! The Ghost is a great guy, I love him as a person but this is a fight that I would love to make. Especially on the Mayweather/Cotto card on Cinco De Mayo. A lot of eyes will be tuned in and will purchase the Pay Per View so it?s the biggest stage to be on. If the Ghost is up for it, I am right here waiting to get it on.?
This weekend, we were all supposed to see the rematch between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto. Due to Berto?s bicep injury, the fight has now been moved to June 30th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The loaded welterwight division is now pretty much set up with very exciting fights to take place. With Pacquiao taking on Bradley in June, that pretty much means that Lamont Peterson will take on Juan Manuel Marquez. I for one would be shocked if Peterson decides to go for Khan. So with Peterson off the table, where does that leave Amir Khan?
Amir Khan will at that point look to test the 147 pound waters and I can see Khan looking to face someone with somewhat name and game, Jan Zaveck fits that bill. Then roughly about 2 weeks from now, we will have Devon Alexander vs. Marcos Maidana. In late March we will be treated to Erik Morales vs. Danny Garcia. What about Robert Guerrero? Guerrero as you all know by now was one of the names being thrown around as a possible opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr. But now that Miguel Cotto got the call to face Floyd, Guerrero now finds himself on the outside looking in.
The idea of seeing a great tough fighter like Guerrero on the shelf then made me sick to my stomach. It was then that Paulie Malignaggi then came to mind. With Sencheko pretty much offering Paulie a bag of peanuts for Paulie to fly over seas, Paulie himself now also finds himself free to stay here and make some fights here on American Soil. Guerrero last time I saw him out in Vegas let me know personally that he would love to fight at 147 and show everyone that he can make a lot of noise in the 147 pound weight class.
So why not face Paulie Malignaggi for your introduction into the very loaded welterweight division? And why not get it done on the biggest fight card of the year, the Mayweather Jr./Cotto undercard? It will present Guerrero with a chance to show Floyd and the other fighters in the division what he is made of. And the extra expossure gained will be through the roof, because the Twitter King the Magic Man Malignaggi along with his fighting style and slick mouth is always there to make sure that the fans get their money?s worth. Guerrero?s tough as nails Mexican fighting style, his charm, and story mixed in with his bilingual skills will be great for this card that happens to fall on Cinco De Mayo.
I then reached out to Paulie and asked him just that, How would you feel about fighting Robert Guerrero, the boxer versus the brawler always provides excitement. You both have great stories to yourselves so I feel that it would be great to see you in there against Robert Guerrero, your thoughts?
