Manila?-MEXICAN Oscar ?Chololo? Larios has no greater ambition than to beat Manny Pacquiao.
And he is so confident of winning that he is already offering the Filipino a rematch.
The 29-year-old Larios yesterday admitted that the guaranteed $450,000 fight purse he will receive against Pacquiao on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum is one of the biggest in his 13-year professional boxing career.
Pacquiao reportedly will receive $1 million.
?I?m very excited for this fight and I?m glad I am given a chance to fight against Manny (Pacquiao),? said Larios during yesterday?s press conference at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas, Pasig City here.
After Pacquiao loses and seeks a rematch, he said, then it will be him with the bigger purse.
Larios? manager Rafael Mendoza said the Guadalajara, Mexico-born fighter must win over Pacquiao first to gain more prominence and higher pay in the event of a rematch.
And that, he said, is exactly what his ward intends to do.
A million dollars
?If there will be a rematch, it will surely be at least a million dollars. You are always talking about a rematch against Morales, a rematch against Barrera. What about a rematch against Larios?? Mendoza said.
Larios said he is not nervous fighting the Gen. Santos City-born Pacquiao in his own turf.
?No, I?m not nervious and I?m not going to be. This is just the same when I fought in Las Vegas or in Mexico,? said Larios through an interpreter.
American trainer Freddie Roach reiterated that the 27-year-old Pacquiao will stop Larios within six rounds in the 12-round bout dubbed ?Mano-A-Mano,? which will also feature four 10-round fights between Filipino and Mexican pugilists.
?Manny Pacquiao is in great shape. There was no distraction in our preparations,? Roach said.
Both fighters will clash in the 130-lbs. limit, which gives Larios an apparent advantage, as he no longer needs to lose extra pounds.
But Pacquiao said fighting against a lower division like Larios will still be the same as far as his strength is concerned.
Also in the scheduled 10-round undercards involving Filipino and Mexican fighters are Czar Amonsot of Bohol against Silverio Ortiz, Gerry Penalosa of San Carlos City against Tomas Rojas, Michael Domingo of Cebu against Alejandro Montiel, and Jimrex Jaca of Paranaque City against Hector Marquez.
