MANNY PACQUIAO is not alarmed by the fact that he now only has less than eight weeks to prepare for a crossroads bout with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao told his handlers not to worry as he assured them everything will turn out well come May 8 in Las Vegas.
“Don?t worry boss,” Pacquiao told business manager Rod Nazario just before he returned to General Santos City after receiving The Ring championship belt at Malacanang. “Huwag kayong nerbiyosin, ako ang lalaban. Pabayaan n?yo na ako. Ako ang bahala.”
There were the same words that Pacquiao uttered days leading to his breakthrough fight with Marco Antonio Barrera last year at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Unlike in the Barrera fight where the Filipino star trained like never before, Pacquiao hasn?t been to the gym although he claims he has been doing early-morning roadwork in preparation for his trip to the US next week.
Pacquiao is slated to fly to Los Angeles on March 19 accompanied by Nazario, cornerman Lito Mondejar, promoter Murad Muhammad and an HBO crew that will stay for one day in Manila to film the boxer?s training.
