It’s one of the most confusing, drama filled, messy, corrupt scenarios that boxing has seen in a long time. The Manny Pacquiao Vs. Floyd Mayweather saga has been ongoing for years now. If I had a nickle for every lie and stall tactic that each side has thrown up in the air, I could probably buy one of Floyd’s Rolls Royce’s by now. This fight has really gotten to the point where many of the fans are just tired of hearing about it. Both camps have done their fare share of screwing things up, and honestly? It’s my opinion that at this point the sport will be in better shape once both of these guys retire.
There may not be two fighters that have the skill set that Floyd and Manny possess, but there are a ton of exciting fighters out there that would love a chance at the spotlight that would provide exciting fights. The fans deserve more out of the sport that they love. They shouldn’t have to deal with greedy promoters and greedy fighters who spend more time lying and less time negotiating.
Once Mayweather and Pacquiao retire, the sport can hopefully move forward and the fans will hopefully get to see the fights that they want to see. It still won’t be a perfect world but at least the fans have a better shot at seeing the two best fighters fight. With Floyd and Manny, it’s the two best fighters that would rather keep kicking the can down the road rather than fight.
Bob Arum and Floyd’s people need to either make the fight or just get out the way and let the sport move on without them.
