Super star American boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was ringside at Rico Ramos vs.Guillermo Rigondeaux championship fight this Friday in Las Vegas. Floyd was very unhappy with Rico Ramos and his unwillingness to engage with the challenger from Cuba. Another fighter that Floyd is extremely unhappy about is Manny Pacquiao.
According to Floyd it seems that Manny reneged on his recent promise to take the smaller share of the purse between the two to make the much anticipated and talked about mega showdown. King of social media has been all over the World Wide Web , using twitter,calling Manny Pacquiao out to fight him on May 5th.Then Floyd made a personal phone call to Manny where the two could not agree on the split of the money. Floyd also tweeted imploring Pcquiao’s promoter to contact Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions or his advisor Al Haymon, yet Top Rank public relations team says that they do not know who to contact to begin negotiations for the big fight. At least one person from team Pacquiao, world famous trainer Freddie Roach believes that all the activities by Floyd Mayweather is a move in positive direction.
” It means we can start negotiations,” said Roach when I saw him at the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood. Emanuel Stewart is another legendary trainer who sees things in a glass half full kind of way. I asked him last week at Pechanga Resort and Casino if the mega showdown would ever take place.
“I think it’s a good chance it may happen,” Stewart said:” Because both of the fighters said they want to fight and they may force their rival promoters to put their problems aside and force the fight.”
Despite a win over a Juan Manuel Marquez in Novemeber, the stock of Manny Pacquiao has fallen. Some even belive that Pacquiao?s promoter Bob Arum purposely avoiding staging a fight with Floyd Mayweather to prevent Manny from loosing to an American undefeated star. Hall of Fame trainer /HBO analyst, Emanuel Stewart sees it differently.
?I think the odds are down on Manny now because of his last fight with Marquez,? said Stewart:? But he always has problems with Marquez. Floyd is physically bigger and skillful, so he would have a slight edge, I think.?
