Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao will knock out Mexican Oscar Larios when they clash on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
That is the consensus among boxing fans who answered a poll in the website www.mannypacquiao.ph.
A check with the website showed that of the 24,495 people who voted as of yesterday, 85.3 percent predict a Pacquiao knockout victory, while only 8.4 percent believe that Larios will prevail against the Filipino idol inside the distance.
Only 3 percent of the voters believe that Pacquiao will win via decision, .8 percent higher than fans predicting Larios will get the judges’ nod after the 12-round fight for the World Boxing Council International title. Only 1.1 percent of the voters believe that the showdown will end in a draw. A day after arriving from his training base in Tokyo, Japan, Larios held his first workout at the Araneta Coliseum yesterday where he worked on the mitts and went shadowboxing.
“I’m ready for the fight, physically and mentally,” Larios said in Spanish.
Meanwhile, Philippine super featherweight champion Jimrex Jaca, who hails from Sibulan, Negros Oriental, has a new opponent for his fight on the Pacquiao- Larios undercard, after his original Mexican opponent reportedly broke his hand in a workout the other day.
Rex “Wakee” Salud said he was able to get veteran, 32 year old Hector Marquez as a replacement. Marquez has fought some of the best in his career and has a ring record of 28-16 with 21 knockouts. *CPT
