Manny Pacquiao does have a second option to make Very Big money. That second option is Saul Canelo Alvarez. This kid has the hispanic culture eating out of his hands. Not only that but he is backed up by Oscar De La Hoya. I know everyone wants to see the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, but if it falls though then Pacquiao could make tons of money against Alvarez. Alvarez even said at one time he would be willing to come down to 150lbs to make that fight. We all know Oscar and Bob Arum have their lovers spat but one thing they always agree on is Money.
In order to make this fight happen Manny Won’t even have to worry about a 50/50 split. I’m sure Oscar would agree to a 60-40 or 65-35 split just to make it happen. Believe it or not but Oscar really has faith in this young kid who the hispanic fan base calls Cinnamon because of his reddish hair. We know that in Mexico this kid can sell out any stadium they have. Would Manny Pacquiao be willing to travel to Mexico to fight this young warrior? Alot of critics are hard on him because he is so young but this kid does sport a pretty good record. Yes alot of it may be padded but even still he has stepped up a little bit and put on a pretty good showing against some veterans. Pacquiao has been critqued about not fighting hungry young fighters with some pop. Well here is his chance.
One thing we know and that is Bob Arum can’t make the excuse “nobody knows him” because that would be a flat out lie. The kid can sell out stadiums in Mexico. Bob needs to really take a close look at matching these two up if he really wants to make some money. There should be no reason why Manny does not make atleast $35 Million for this fight plus PPV money. We are not sure how the 24/7 by HBO would turn out but it can only help. I’ve learned in order to get better you must fight people bigger and better than you. Well Alvarez might be bigger but we don’t know if he is better. One thing that Freddie Roach would love about this fight is that Alvarez is flat footed sometimes and this fits right up their alley. The only problem is Alvarez can punch. Can Toprank and Goldenboy Promotions put this fight on and give the fans something to see if the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight falls through? Let’s hope so.
