If the definition of a popular quote regarding insanity holds any truth, then Floyd Mayweather, Jr. might have had a shot at being declared “not guilty” from his felony charges had he pleaded it.

Like I said, you got to be kidding me.
As much as we?ve criticized Pacquiao?s promoter Bob Arum for his greed as the main reason blocking this superfight, Mayweather just reminded boxing fans that he?s no different. ?That can?t happen? was his response to Pacquiao?s request for a fair shake. To me, it just perfectly states his true answer to them finally lacing it up against each other.
Did he really expect things to be different and that he can just maintain his difficult stance during previous failed negotiations and actually get everything he wants this time around?
Who does Mayweather think he is? His ego is as much to blame as Arum with regards to why this fight has yet to take place.
Here’s a guy who since Day 1 has come up with demand after demand after demand just to fight. To this day, it is still he who has preconditions that need to be satisfied like a specific fight date, venue, drug testing demands and whatever else. And when his opponent requests an even split, he can’t even budge. Again, who the hell does this dude think he is?
This dude touches his kids’ mom and gets sent to prison, got a “get out of jail” pass so he can fight and make some money, and now he still wants everybody to be on his time, his terms and satistfy his demands.
Hate Arum all you want; the guy is a promoter. Mayweather is a fighter who’s acting just as bad as one.
If I were Manny Pacquiao, the same Manny Pacquiao that won 8-divisional titles, beat out Mayweather for Fighter of the Decade accolades, has done more Pay-per-View buys than any single boxer in the last 3 years combined, has endorsement deals with Nike, HP, Hennesy, Sony and just about every major company Mayweather doesn’t have an endorsement deal with, if Mayweather told me this after insulting me acting like I’m the one who’s ducking him, I’d tell him to go screw himself.
Mayweather does not deserve more money than Pacquiao. An even split is the one demand Pacquiao wants. Now, if Arum steps in and adds his shenanigans, then that’s a whole new story for a different day, we can grill him again then. But if Mayweather can’t even give in to an even split and he’s asking for all kinds of demands, why would Pacquiao even waste another second, or should I say two minutes, talking to this megalomaniac?
I actually thought Mayweather wanted to fight this time around. Now I’m starting to think that I was still right all along; that this is but another ploy like he’s done many times before to try and generate publicity and swing people to his side, right before announcing his next fight against someone not named Manny Pacquiao.
It’s clear as day, and I really don’t care how his groupies and pom-pom boys spin it. The Philippines may be a third world country, but Filipinos aren’t pushovers, let alone are they stupid.
Mayweather can call out Pacquiao a million times more, tweet and talk all his junk, but he has to walk the walk too. Negotiations are about compromising to achieve an amicable middle ground as opposed to “sticking to your guns” and hoping the other side gets tired and just give up. And when they don’t, you tweet and call them punks. You can expect that behavior from 3rd graders; not with true champions.
Talk about greed. Give fans the fight that they want? Then take the 50/50 split which is more than fair. At this point, Mayweather ain’t nothin’ but Bob Arum with gloves and a Twitter account. Only a blind sucker can’t see that.
