MANILA, Philippines ? Manny Pacquiao told The STAR during last night’s People Asia awards dinner that Floyd Mayweather called him up to discuss their highly anticipated fight.
“Yes, nag-usap kami kanina. Tumawag siya sa akin,” said Pacquiao of the latest and biggest development so far in their long delayed negotiations for the superfight.
“I told him we should do the fight as long as he agrees to 50-50 sharing,” Pacquiao said.
It was not clear when the fight would happen or if it will happen at all but what?s truly important is that there’s already a line of communication between the two superstars.
They seem to be on the same page that the fight should be done. It’s the fight the entire planet wants to see.
“We did not talk about the date (of the fight),” Pacquiao told The STAR.
“Pero nag-usap na kami. Sana matuloy na ang fight,” he added.
Mayweather calling Pacquiao on the phone was a big surprise because over the last few days, the American had been calling him out but only through Twitter.
Now the question is if both fighters are willing to do the fight among themselves because one reason it has never happened at all is because of the animosity between their promoters.
