Mexican three-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is on the lookout for his next fight, but insists on his desire to seek a fourth world title and a new rematch with Manny Pacquiao. One source indicates the possibility of seeking a world title fight with newly crowned WBA/IBF super lightweight champion Lamont Peterson. Marquez has also expressed a possibility of facing WBC super lightweight champion Timothy Bradley.
Marquez also wants to fight in Mexico City before retiring and there is a possibility of a fight on March 17, during the inauguration of the new Mexico City Arena against an opponent yet to be determined, although the name of ex-champ David Diaz has been mentioned. Should the Pacquiao fight not materialize, this could be a good alternative.
In other Marquez news, the Marquez camp is continuing the process of requesting the WBA to reinstate him as lightweight super champion. A reliable source indicates that there are strong possibilities that WBA will return his world crown.
