Upon arriving from Manila Wednesday for a whirlwind meeting with promoter Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao told reporters here in General Santos City there should be no problem staging the fight between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr in May.
The caveat? Mayweather should not dictate the manner of splitting the fight purse.
Pacquiao said the fight will be a go if Mayweather agrees to a 50-50 split in the pay-per-view revenues where both boxers are expected to earn a gross purse of at least US$40 million each.
On Wednesday, Mayweather tweeted in his account calling Pacquiao to step up and fight the flamboyant American.
He also took swipe at the Filipino boxing icon, who he called a punk.
Pacquiao said the cut above his right eyebrow had already healed and should not be a problem as he stands up to the challenge of arch nemesis Mayweather.
In 2009, the two came close to fighting each other on a 50-50 split in the purse but the fight deal fell off after Pacquiao rejected a Mayweather-imposed stringent drug testing outside of the Nevada sanctioned drug tests.
