MANILA, Philippines – Bob Arum is hoping for a ?resolution? in his series of meetings with Manny Pacquiao over the next few days.
Arum flew in from Las Vegas via Vancouver yesterday morning, and was scheduled to meet the boxing icon last night somewhere in Makati.
?I hope we can reach a resolution,? said Arum.
Pacquiao arrived with his wife Jinkee in Manila from General Santos in the afternoon and went straight to their home in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The chief of Top Rank Promotions has given Pacquiao four names to choose from for his next fight either on June 2 or June 9. He said they?re no longer considering June 16.
They are Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Tim Bradley and Lamont Peterson.
The name of Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not in the list but it doesn?t mean he?s not going to be part of the discussions that will run until Arum flies back home on Saturday.
Pacquiao?s chief adviser, Mike Koncz, flew in with Arum, and said there?s really no rush in making the decision on the Filipino boxer?s next opponent.
?There?s no rush,? he said.
?We don?t have the intention of making the decision this week. Manny just wants to hear everything from Bob Arum himself,? Koncz added.
Koncz said Pacquiao is ?aware of and is abreast of everything? going on, particularly regarding Mayweather?s jail term that was suspended from Jan. 6 until June.
Still, Arum said it would be better if by the time he leaves Manila, they?ll all be on the same page as to the who, where and when of Pacquiao?s next fight.
Pacquiao had said he?s willing to fight anybody, and that includes Mayweather who is setting his eyes on another foe on May 5.
Pacquiao will then fight someone else, and then Arum said Mayweather can serve his jail time in June and then get ready for a possible fight with Pacquiao in November.
?We?ll have to see. I still have to talk to Manny,? said Arum.
