I know Manny Pacquiao is all in. And let?s give the ducking dodger the benefit of the doubt here, Floyd Mayweather might be ready to rock and roll. Team Mayweather says they want a May 5th fight before Floyd heads to jail in June. Okay, there is the cue. Take it Bob Arum, take it and make the fight.
Pacquiao wants Floyd next. End of discussion. Make the fight Bob. Or at least try to. Call Haymon, Schaefer, Ellerbe or Floyd himself. Make the darn fight now. Forget about matching Pacquiao vs. Marquez, Bradley or Peterson. Nobody cares. Nobody cares about seeing Mayweather against Guerrero, Morales, Aydin or Alexander either.
If Arum tries to stand in the way now and tries to block the biggest fight in boxing history, the veteran promoter deserves to be blasted with extreme prejudice. EXTREME PREJUDICE.
More than enough money has been made off Pacquiao and Mayweather showcase set-up fights for the last two years. The public has waited patiently long enough. Now it?s time to make the Super Bowl. NOW.
Arum must put it out there that he wants to begin negotiations with the Mayweather team. Right now. Force the issue. Forget about the MGM Grand not being big enough to stage the biggest event in boxing history ? a temporary 45,000 seat arena can be built by May 5. Then, if Arum does his part and tries to initiate negotiations and Floyd backs out again from facing Pacquiao, the stone cold truth will be crystal clear for all to see: Floyd?s indeed a damned coward.
If Arum lays low and doesn?t force the issue with the Mayweather team next week ? hey, why aren?t Haymon and Ellerbe trying to call out Pacquiao right about now? ? then boxing fans should boycott all Mayweather and Pacquiao fights ? until they meet.
Nothing else matters. Mayweather vs. The Ghost Guerrero. Pac Man vs. Marquez 4. It?s all irrelevant. Boxing fans want to know now who is the best. Who is the premier fighter on Planet Earth right now, the Asian dynamo or the Pound for pound Picasso (nickname credit G Leon). The world has been demanding the fight for 26 months.
Now is the absolutely perfect moment to do it. It may be the last chance too. Floyd is 35. Pacquiao is 33. Both are overdue for a loss. We can?t afford to wait anymore. Make it. Make it now.
If Arum, Haymon, Ellerbe, Schaefer, Pacquiao and Mayweather can?t get it done, they aught to be suspended from the sport for 12 months ? or at least pay the fans to watch the next fights of Pacquiao and Mayweather.
The public has paid and waited long enough. No more nonsense.
Get the job done. Arum, Schaefer, Haymon work for you, the fans. Boxing fans are the lifeblood of the sport. Now it?s time the ticket and pay-per-view buying fans get what they want.
